AS Media Thriller opening - Analysis
Inner Evil - Kristine Gulden
Plot
The plot is quite vague and confusing, This may be the intention of the creator to mislead the audience. There are a lot of possibilities for the many questions to be answered in the rest of the film.
Mis-en-scene
Light clothing has been used for the innocent character and the opposite, dark clothing, has been used for the mysterious or dangerous character. This makes it very easy to distinguish who is good and who is bad.
The locations are all ordinary locations, this makes the contrast between the event and the location even more noticeable
Editing
The sequence is fairly slow paced, this draws out the tension, allowing it to build up a lot.
The colour correction used in the sequence draws out colour and makes the scene seem almost surreal and sort of a dream world kind of feel.
Sound
The music is constant through out the opening until the last bit when the sinister twist is revealed.
The music at the start is a calm but slightly eerie and then when the twist is revealed it turns to a darker tone with deeper sounds
Camera + Lighting
Most of the lighting is natural lighting as it is set in the day time but the producers did use shadow to point out the bad scenes.
The majority of shots are either tracking shots or close ups, this is very effective because it means that the audience only see a small part making them want to see more and feel like there is something that they are missing
